1957 Cadillac Deville
This beautiful Deville was originally purchased in 1957 from Tom Williams Cadillac in Santa Barbara California. In 1970, the owner retired in delightful South Dakota and this beauty was stored in a barn for safe keeping. In 2008, Cafe Ala Car was excited to find and restore this gem. An engine, transmission and drive train overhaul followed by a new interior brought this time capsule back to life. The first adventure after the facelift was a road trip to Nashville. Nothing better than oozing down the road in this classic! Who knows where the next adventure will be? Chicago? New York? Maybe a trip back to the beginning, Santa Barbara? Where will you take this beauty?

914 Porsche
This 1973 targa-top cutie began its story in Phoenix, AZ where it was purchased. However, its time in the sun was short lived as it ended up in Sioux Fall, SD where it would enjoy all the seasons: summer, fall, snow and rust. By 1998, it was in need of some TLC. It was moved to Yankton, SD where an ambitious new owner planned to restore it to its original glory.
Unfortunately, those dreams went unrealized and the 914 was purchased by one of my coworkers who wanted to turn it into a dune buggy. The once beautiful 914 was headed for a fate that had befallen many in the 1990’s. I found it full of leaves and barely running. I couldn’t let it become a dune buggy, so I bought it for $950 and began a new adventure.
My wife was unenthusiastic to say the least, but I was delighted to be a Porsche owner! Slowly the 914 came back to life. I have been working to keep it as original as possible – still has the gauges in the center console, the original 2.0 engine and Fuchs rims. Lately, my wife has taken a shine to it (after I showed her the value of our investment), and my son is ready to take it on a road trip to Nashville to begin a new chapter of adventures.
1968 GMC
This aging beauty (the pickup, not my wife!) came from a local bachelor in South Dakota. He used it to haul crops to town pulling little grain wagons. He purchased it new from Teilke Motors in Yankton, SD.
This ’68 Jimmy is a 3/4 ton with the original 307 motor and a manual transmission. It was an everyday work horse for the owner and he put 65,000 miles on it. He passed away several years ago and left it to his long-time friend.
It needs a few cosmetic fixes, but boy does it know how to pull! We’ll start the pampering and get it looking siny again so it will be ready to start new adventures in the Lammers family.
May even haul some grain to town for old time’s sake!
